Half Way Done!!

Wow!  I can't believe it!  20 Weeks!  This pregnancy has been flying by compared to my last one.  I guess it's because I've "been there, done that" and the 2 year old running around the house taking up my time :)

20 week stats: (from Baby Center)
The baby should weigh about 10.5 ounces and be about 6.5 inches from head to heel, about the length of a banana.  (Measuring from head to heel is new now that the baby is more likely to stretch out those little legs!)  The baby is also swallowing more, great practice for his digestive system.

I have an appointment on Friday afternoon for an ultrasound, so I will have more specific information then!  I'm so excited, I can't wait!

As for me, I still never feel like I have enough sleep (maybe sometime in the next 18 years?)  I never really feel like eating; however, once I start to eat, I can eat A LOT.  And of course, fruit is still number 1 on my list of things I want to eat.  My newest addition to my addictions?  Iced tea.  Pretty much any sweet iced tea.  I make my own sweet iced tea at home with decaf tea bags so I don't feel as guilty drinking it.  Sooo yummy...

Product Placement

We went to the video store this weekend.  Walking through the parking lot C started to get very excited and wanted to run.  Once we got to the sidewalk, we let him go and he ran right to the video store and started to yell "BOWL, I BOWL."  It was a poster of Wii Resorts and there was a little picture of the bowling on the bottom of the poster.  We finally got him inside the store, he looked around, and ran over to the shelves.  With me right behind him "C, don't touch anything, be careful" he grabbed two boxes off the shelf.  Can you guess what they were?  Yup, Wii Resorts.  He was so excited he started yelling again "BOWL, I BOWL" and Hubby and I responded, "Yes, you bowl."  Very sweet and cute, but boy, that kid can recognize his game :)

Super Wii!!
(Sorry about bad quality, taken with my phone!)

To finish the story on a non-C note.  While we were telling C "yes, bowling, you like to bowl" there was a guy at the register checking out saying "no, that's Resorts, there's no bowling."  Uh, excuse me, I believe my 2 year old knows more about this subject than you.  Of course, I didn't say that, I responded with "I'm pretty sure it does since he plays it a lot" the guy insisted on arguing more!  Really?  Just drop it if you think I'm wrong, do you really need to argue with me?  But it was settled when Hubby (at the back of the store) and the check out guy at almost the same time said "Yes it does."  Ha!  My two year old and I know more than you!  (But why did the guy only stop arguing when two guys said I was right?  Why couldn't he have believed me?  It's so not fair being female sometimes!)

Have a great Friday!!

Weird Pregnancy Thing...

I smell smoke EVERYWHERE!  It is so annoying!  And not smoke like sitting by a campfire roasting marshmallows, or the sweet smell of a pipe...nope, smoke, like cigarette smoke.  I smell it so strongly that at times it chokes me up, you know like when you walk behind someone smoking and you suddenly can't talk?  Yeah, that bad.  I smell it when people brew coffee, just sitting on my couch, walking around Target, sitting at my desk at work, and even when I'm driving down the road!  I've read that some pregnant women think that coffee smells like cigarettes, but it's not only when around coffee.  It is so annoying!  How do I get away from it?  I've even asked people around me if they smell it because it is so strong.  Oh well, I guess this is one of those things that will pass when I have the baby...but fingers crossed sooner!!

19 Weeks!

Wow!  Where does the time go?  I can't believe I'm 19 weeks pregnant already!

According to Baby Center:
The baby is is about 8.5 ounces and 6 inches from head to bottom.  About the size of a large heirloom tomato!  His arms and legs are in proportion to the rest of his body.  His kidneys are still making urine and hair is starting to sprout on his scalp!

As for me, I am starting to feel more movement.  Not so much kicks as heavy feelings in my stomach that feel harder (when feeling from the outside) than other areas on my stomach.  If I am at just the right angle I can feel little flutter kicks...so sweet!  I have some energy back, but still get tired easily.  I get up a lot to go to the bathroom, which can be a pain.  And my back is starting to hurt, ugh!  But overall I am feel really well, and get more and more excited each day!

My next doctors appointment is with the high risk OB on July 2.  I will be getting a level 2 ultrasound, which means they will measure all the different parts of the baby and make sure everything is growing like it should.  (And if we're lucky, the dr will confirm it's a boy!)  It was actually at this appointment with C that we had the first indicator that he would be a small baby.

Hubby and I are still discussing names.  Any ideas??

Happy Father's Day!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Father's Day!  We had a fun day.  Hubby wanted to go bowling, so we got our stuff together and were at the bowling alley by 11:30.  C and Hubby had a great time bowling, I even bowled a game!  Then, after a quick trip home for C to take a nap, we went out to dinner with Hubby's parents.  It was a fun and relaxing day.

Hubby is such a great dad and husband.  He is very calm and patient with C.  He is very tolerant of C, and loves to play with C.  I am very thankful to have found such a wonderful guy to be my partner in life!

(I didn't take very many pictures this time.)

Happy (Belated) Father's Day to all the dad's out there!!

Why Having a Toddler is Like Being at a Frat Party

Saw this on someones facebook, and had to share!  Why Having a Toddler is Like Being at a Frat Party  Too funny, and too true!  My favorite one she had was 7. You sneak off to the bathroom knowing that as soon as you sit down, someone's going to start banging on the door.

Hubby is always making comparisons of C to a frat guy.  Instead of "Beer?  YAY!!" we hear "Bowl, YAY!" or "Outside? YAY!"  I also happen to have a little guy walking around right now in only his underwear (well, diaper.)

What do you think?

What is wrong with people??

OMG!!  I was reading a couple blogs and came across this article.  It really makes me sick to my stomach and wonder what is wrong with people.  Basically, a pregnant 19 year old was forced by her 31 year old boyfriend to sign an abuse contract...yes, you read that correctly, an abuse contract.  Why would someone sign this?  Why would someone ask someone to sign this?  The contract said that he could "beat her anywhere except on her pregnant belly"...well I guess that's an up side.  Really, what is wrong with people?

*I don't know if he really forced her to sign the contract, it's just the only way I can see someone ever signing something like this!*

A Trip in Pictures

Two weekends ago we went to visit Hubby's grandma, C's Mema.  We had so much fun!  We left around 4:00am hoping that C and I would sleep most of the way and wouldn't have to stop as often.  Well, I walked into C's room and he was sitting up in his crib waiting for me!  He was wide awake!  He did doze off and on in the car, but not more than an hour the whole 4.5 hour trip!
This is actually from another trip...but you get the idea!

We arrived at Memas and she had a big country breakfast ready for us!  Yummy!  After breakfast C dragged us outside.  It was HOT!  He had a great time showing off his ball skills.

Next, against much complaining, we headed inside to rest.  Hubby, Mema, and I all fell asleep...not C!  I got him to lay down in front of the TV and "rest" but he did not fall asleep.  After nap time, we bowled a little while Mema got a huge lunch together.  C is in the middle of an eating strike, so we were pleasantly surprised when he chowed down on some roast beef, mashed potatoes, and corn.  Then, he talked us into going outside again!

C got to meet a couple new animal friends as well!  Hubby's sister keeps a horse at Memas.  He had fun seeing the "dog" from the window.  Mema also has a cat that he had a great time "playing" with!  He also meet Annie, a dog of one of Hubby's aunts.  We told C that this is Annie, and to be careful because she's smaller than he's used to.  Every time someone would tell C that the dogs name was Annie, he would get down on her level and say "I C, I C" introducing himself...so cute!

Remember the nap C didn't take?  Well, we put him in his chair for dinner so he could eat because he was fading quick around 6:00.  This is what happened while we were cutting his food for him.  Needless to say, he slept well that night!

Then we left on Sunday.  A very quick trip, but lots of fun!  And we hardly ever see C get that tired :)

Baby Name

Names are being thrown around the house like crazy these days.  Hubby and I will, in the middle of a conversation, randomly say a name, then we stop our other conversation and contemplate that name.  The other day a name was thrown out, I can't get it out of my mind!  I don't know of that means it's "the one" or if I am just trying to decide if it would be appropriate to use for a baby.

The name?  Dexter.  I really really like this name.  I like the nickname Dex, also.  I looked it up and it is of English origin and means "dryer of clothes."  It hasn't been in the top 100 since the 70's, but did rank 545 in 2009, so it's still hanging in there.

A pretty harmless name all in all.  However, Dexter is also the name of the serial killer in the Showtime series Dexter.  Hubby and I love this show, who doesn't like a lovable serial killer who only kills those who have escaped the law somehow?

What do you think?  What I wouldn't want to happen is people to find out Dexter's name and say "like the show on Showtime" or "oh, wasn't that the name of the serial killer from Showtime?"

I Didn't Know I was Pregnant

I LOVE this show!  It's on TLC, I have no idea when, it's one of those shows I have to stumble upon.  Some of the stories I've seen are crazy!  College kids who drink and party, a woman who had her tubes tied for 10 years, a nursing mother who didn't think she could get pregnant, single mothers who have only been on a date or two (oops!)  Craziness!

If you haven't seen it yet, you should!  I can't even imagine not knowing I was pregnant.  I guess if you don't gain much weight, never feel sick, and don't notice the movement.  I know there are days when I don't feel as pregnant as other days, but I still can't imagine not knowing at all!

There was no denying I was pregnant!

Mean Mommy

I felt like such a mean mom this morning!  Going back to my bowling obsessed child, he walked out the door this morning with 2 bowling pins (one of which is a dog toy!)  Usually I don't mind if he takes his pins to my moms house (she watches him while Hubby and I are at work) but for some reason this morning, I didn't want him to take them...I have no idea why, I'm blaming pregnancy craziness.  Pregnancy is a very handy excuse to have, just sayin'!  Anyway, he has a musical, piano-ish type toy in the car so I talked him into taking that into Nannys house instead of his pins.  Well, we get inside and he gets very clingy and when I pick him up for our hug and kiss good-bye, he just puts his head down and said in the saddest, smallest voice ever "I booooowl."  So I look into his sweet face and ask if he wants his pins from the car, he got very excited, jumped down, ran to the door and yelled "YEAH!!!"  So we walked out to the car, got his pins and he kissed me good bye with a huge smile.  I felt like the meanest mommy ever for trying to talk him out of the pins in the first place.

And throw!

Espresso Shot Needed!

If I wasn't pregnant, I would be heading to Starbucks getting the largest most caffeinated drink they sell this morning!!  We had a very busy weekend, and I need another day to recover.  I'll tell you all about it later, but let's say there was an early morning car ride, lots of playing outside in the hot sun, and an active 2 year old involved!  I definitely feel like this today...

Yes, C fell asleep before dinner was even served Saturday night!

I guess I'll head to Starbucks and try tricking myself with a yummy decaf white mocha....or maybe a decaf frap?

Hello, my name is...

Hello, my name is HC and I am a milkshake-aholic.  Seriously, the last week or so I have had a milkshake every night.  I don't know what it is, but a bowl of ice cream just doesn't sound as yummy as a milkshake (that whole weird pregnancy thing again.)  Hubby has been great, and makes me one every night.  How did I get so lucky?

Watermelon for dinner and milkshake for dessert is well rounded, right???

Milkshake from last night!

Funny Baby Products

I just had to share some funny baby products I've seen! Enjoy :)

Hubby says he's waiting for the ones that say "Juicy" on the butt!

I just love this shirt from Cafe Press.

Not a baby product, but a Breasting Feeding babydoll.  I am all for breasting feeding, but not really sure what my feelings are for this!

The Zakey is a pillow shaped like hands that is supposed to help comfort a child.  I can see the principle behind these, but they creep me out a little.

Rockabye Baby CDs.  Lullaby renditions of popular musicians.  I totally want a couple of these CDs!

Randomness...

I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day. Things have been a little crazy around here! On Monday, we noticed our dog wasn't really acting like himself...not chasing C around, not eating the food C threw him from his chair at lunchtime, just generally not feeling well. But, last night he seemed to be doing a lot better, and today even better! Maybe he had a little doggy bug?
Pictures by the wonderful Hubby!

I mentioned on Friday that I had an ultra sound. Well, everything looks great! I'm considered high risk for a couple of reasons, so I am lucky enough to get an ultrasound every month during my pregnancy. Not that I'm happy to be high risk, but looking on the bright side! I was only 15 weeks, so they usually don't tell you what you are having, but my ultrasound tech was nice enough to take a guess...and she thinks a boy! C will love having a little brother to play around with :)

Pregnancy is so weird and really messes with your mind! Last night Hubby was nice enough to stop and get Chipotle for dinner because I was stressing a little over the dog. I was soooo excited for my steak bowl, and when I first opened it, it looked so good. But then I went to the fridge to get something, and I saw watermelon. I sat down to eat my bowl, and I couldn't stop thinking about watermelon, and my bowl tasted all wrong. So, the bowl went into the fridge for lunch today, and I ate two big bowls of watermelon for dinner! Yummy!!
C one year ago enjoying some watermelon at a family gathering!
